Example: a 2 hour visit of any kind is $250. A 3 hour general visit is $250 + $75 = $325. Time after the house call is billed in 30 minute increments. Hawaii General Excise Tax is added to invoices.
Project bids
Larger or multiple day projects can be quoted as a fixed written estimate instead of hourly billing.
Materials
Materials are billed at cost plus 25% for procurement and handling. Client supplied materials picked up for you carry a 25% handling fee.
Payment
Due upon completion unless stated otherwise in writing. Wise transfer preferred, cash and check accepted.

Good questions, straight answers.
What does the $250 house call cover?
The first two hours on site for any category of work, plus travel anywhere on Maui and pickup of materials. After two hours, time is billed by category in 30 minute increments.
Are you a contractor?
No. 808 Handy Haole is not a contractor, does not represent itself as one, and does not carry a contractor license. 808 Handy Haole operates as a construction consultant, and all projects are homeowner build projects. Anything that requires a licensed trade or a permit is identified up front and referred to a licensed subcontractor.
Can you give me a fixed price instead of hourly?
Yes. Larger or multiple day projects can be quoted as a written fixed bid before any work begins.
What if you find a problem once the work starts?
Pricing is based on visible conditions. If concealed damage, rot or prior improper work turns up, work pauses and you get a written change order to approve before anything continues.
How do I pay?
Payment is due upon completion unless otherwise stated in writing. Wise transfer is preferred, and cash or check is accepted. Checks are payable to 808 Handy Haole.
Can I buy my own materials?
Yes. If you purchase materials and 808 Handy Haole picks them up, a 25% handling fee on the material cost applies. Warranty on client supplied materials is through the manufacturer and retailer.
